Patriots sign Sheard
Mar 12, 2015 - 11:11 PM Foxborough, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - The New England Patriots have signed defensive lineman Jabaal Sheard, cornerback Chimdi Chekwa and linebacker Jonathan Freeny.Sheard played in 61 games with 50 starts over the past four seasons with the Cleveland Browns. He has registered 190 tackles, 23 sacks and seven forced fumbles.
Chekwa played in 32 games with four starts over the past four seasons with the Oakland Raiders. The Ohio State product was a key contributor on special teams.
Freeny spent the past three seasons with the Miami Dolphins after originally joining the team as a rookie free agent in 2011 out of Rutgers. He played in 44 games with the Dolphins.
