2-time Pro Bowl CB Tim Jennings agrees to terms with Bucs
Sep 4, 2015 - 3:18 AM MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) Two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Tim Jennings agreed to terms Thursday with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will be reunited with coach Lovie Smith. The Bucs announced the signing during their final exhibition game at Miami.
Jennings was cut Sunday by the Chicago Bears, and Smith was his coach there in 2010-12.
''A good player,'' Smith said. ''He can cover. Great quickness. Good hands. And Tim knows that to come here he's got to be able to tackle.''
Jennings, 31, missed only six starts in five seasons with the Bears and has 20 career interceptions, including an NFL-high nine in 2012. His release by the Bears was a cost-cutting move, because he had a guaranteed base salary of $4.4 million this year.
He had arthroscopic knee surgery in the offseason.
