Jaguars QB Garrard could miss up to a month

Oct 24, 2007 - 10:13 PM JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Ticker) - Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback David Garrard could be sidelined for up to a month with a sprained ankle, coach Jack Del Rio said.

Del Rio said Garrard has a high ankle sprain, which definitely will sideline the signal-caller for the next two games. Garrard was injured in the second quarter in Monday night's 29-7 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

"David will be out this week and it looks like, at the minimum, he'll be out a couple of weeks and potentially it could be as much as a month," Del Rio said.

Quinn Gray, who struggled after replacing Garrard, will make his first career Sunday at Tampa Bay. Against the Colts, he completed 9-of-24 passes for just 56 yards and two interceptions.

On Wednesday, the Jaguars were in search of more quarterback help. Todd Bouman, Doug Johnson and Drew Henson all auditioned for roster spots.

The Jaguars also contacted veteran Drew Bledsoe, who opted to stay retired.

Jacksonville (4-2) is tied for second place in the AFC South, two games behind Indianapolis.
