Jaguars expect QB Garrard to start on Sunday

Nov 14, 2007 - 8:27 PM JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars expect David Garrard to be their starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers.

Garrard has missed three games since suffering a high ankle sprain against the Indianapolis Colts on October 22.

While the Jaguars have not officially named Garrard as the starter, coach Jack Del Rio said the quarterback will not be listed on the team's injury report this week.

"We think we're going to have David," Del Rio said. "Barring any setbacks, we expect him being our quarterback on Sunday."

The Jaguars have survived Garrard's absence, winning two of three games - all on the road - with untested Quinn Gray as the starter.

Last Sunday, Jacksonville posted an important 28-13 victory over the Tennessee Titans. The win pulled the Jaguars (6-3) into a tie with the Titans for second place in the AFC South - one game behind the Colts.

Prior to the injury, Garrard, who will return to practice on Wednesday, posted a passer rating of 102.9 that still ranks fourth in the league.

For the season, Garrard has completed 98-of-148 passes for 1,141 with six touchdowns and no interceptions.

Tha Jaguars would be getting him back at a good time, as four of their next five games are against three current AFC division leaders and a wild card contender.
