Judge accepts terms of Pacman's plea deal
Nov 15, 2007 - 8:58 PM LAS VEGAS (Ticker) -- A judge set a December court date for Adam "Pacman" Jones on Thursday, when the suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback will enter a plea in a triple-shooting case at a Las Vegas strip club.Jones was not in court Thursday when a judge accepted a written agreement for the troubled player to plead no contest to one charge of conspiracy to commit disorderly conduct, a gross misdemeanor.
The judge ordered Jones to enter his plea on December 5.
Prosecutors are hoping that Jones can identify the gunman who opened fire February 19 outside the Minxx Gentlemen's Club where Jones had earlier been involved in a brawl. The shooting left one man paralyzed.
With his plea, Jones is expected to be sentenced to one year of probation. Prosecutors are dropping two felony charges of coercion that could have gotten Jones up to six years in prison.
Last week, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell denied Jones' application for reinstatement into the league.
Jones, 24, was suspended for the entire 2007 season in April for violating the league's personal conduct policy for a series of off-field incidents. His suspension was reviewed after 10 weeks of the season, but Goodell chose to enforce it in full.
In June, Jones was arrested for the sixth time since being drafted fifth overall in 2005 on two counts of felony coercion stemming from the brawl at the strip club.
Despite repeated run-ins with the law, Jones never has been convicted.
No one has shouted yet.
