Bears place CB Vasher on IR

Dec 27, 2007 - 6:12 PM LAKE FOREST, Illinois (Ticker) -- Chicago Bears cornerback Nathan Vasher, who played in only four games this season due to a nagging groin injury, was placed on injured reserve Thursday.

The Bears' fourth-round draft pick in 2004, Vasher registered just nine tackles with a sack and an interception.

On June 25, Vasher signed a five-year extension that keeps him under contract with the Bears through the 2012 season.

In a corresponding move, Chicago signed wide receiver Brandon Rideau to the active roster.

Rideau joined the Bears in 2006 and had spent the last two seasons on the team's practice squad.
