Cowboys sign WR Crayton to extension
Dec 28, 2007 - 5:34 AM IRVING, Texas (Ticker) -- Patrick Crayton became the latest player on the Dallas Cowboys to be rewarded for a strong season.Crayton and the Cowboys on Thursday agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $14 million.
The deal includes a $6 million signing bonus and features escalator clauses and incentives that could add $2 million to its overall worth.
Crayton, who was expected to be the Cowboys' No. 3 receiver until an injury to Terry Glenn opened up a starting berth at the beginning of the season, had a career-high 48 receptions for 689 yards and seven touchdown receptions.
A seventh-round pick out of Northwestern Oklahoma State in 2004, Crayton's production has increased in each season with Dallas.
Crayton was expected to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. He is the third player the Cowboys have signed to a long-term extension this season.
Quarterback Tony Romo signed a six-year, $67.5 million extension and starting nose tackle Jay Ratliff agreed to a five-year, $20.5 million deal.
