Raiders re-sign RB Fargas

Feb 14, 2008 - 3:43 AM OAKLAND, California (Ticker) - Justin Fargas parlayed a career year into a new contract.

The Oakland Raiders re-signed the fifth-year running back on Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Fargas rushed for 1,009 yards and four touchdowns on 222 carries despite not becoming the full-time starter until midway through the season and missing the final two games with a knee injury.

A third-round pick in 2003 out of Southern California, Fargas had four 100-yard games, including back-to-back efforts of 139 and 146 yards in wins over AFC West rivals Kansas City and Denver.

Fargas' finest game came off the bench. Spelling an injured LaMont Jordan, he rambled for 179 yards in a Week Four victory over Miami.

In addition to leading the Raiders in rushing, Fargas also led the team in total yards from scrimmage and all-purpose yards.
