Moss restraining order to be dropped

A woman who filed a restraining order against New England Patriots superstar Randy Moss is dropping the case, according to the attorney for the player.

Richard A. Sharpstein, Moss' Miami-based attorney, confirmed to PA SportsTicker on Tuesday night that the woman has agreed to have the restraining order dropped.

"There is finally recognition by her that there were no intentionally inflicted injuries," said Sharpstein, adding that Moss is "extremely pleased" to put the incident behind him.

Rachelle Washington, 35, who has had a long relationship with Moss, filed a restraining order against him on January 14 in Broward County, Florida.

The restraining order, stemming from an incident on January 6 at the woman's condominium, was issued over the woman's claims of "dating violence."

In her affidavit, Washington claimed Moss asked her not to seek medical attention. The restraining order said Moss must stay at least 500 feet from Washington's home.

Moss acknowledged there was an "accident" but vehemently denied hitting Washington and claimed he was the victim of extortion.

"In my whole entire life of living 30 years, I've never put a hand on one woman, physically or in an angry manner," Moss said at the time.

Washington's attorney, David McGill, denied Moss' accusations of extortion and claimed it was Moss who presented the six-figure settlement offer to her.

Moss set an NFL record with 23 touchdown receptions this season in leading the Patriots to an undefeated season and to the Super Bowl, where they lost to the New York Giants, 17-14.

A free agent after the season, the Patriots re-signed Moss to a three-year, $27 million contract last week.
