Randle El has minor surgery

May 7, 2008 - 1:32 AM ASHBURN, VIrginia (Ticker) - Washington Redskins wide receiver Antwaan Randle El on Tuesday had arthroscopic knee surgery.

Coach Jim Zorn said the procedure was necessary to remove a loose body from the knee and called it "fairly minor."

"Sometimes those are in there and they create irritation," Zorn said. "They noticed some swelling and they gave him an MRI. They noticed there was just a little piece of (a loose body)."

Zorn estimated the recovery time to be three to four weeks for Randle El, who is expected to be ready for the team's offseason practices in early June.

The injury did not occur during any on-field work, Zorn said.

A second-round pick of the Redskins in 2002, Randle El had a career-high 51 catches for 728 yards and one touchdown last season.
