Cowboys sign DE Canty to one-year tender
Jun 11, 2008 - 10:09 PM IRVING, Texas (Ticker) - Dallas Cowboys defensive end Chris Canty signed his one-year tender Wednesday.The 6-7, 300-pound Canty will receive $2.017 million this season.
Had another club signed Canty to a qualifying offer and the Cowboys elected not to match it, Dallas would have received a first-round draft pick.
A 2005 fourth-round pick out of Virginia, Canty has started 34 of 48 regular-season games for Dallas, recording 133 tackles and seven sacks.
Last season, the 25-year-old Canty registered a career-high 3 1/3 sacks while playing in all 16 games.
