LAKE FOREST, Illinois (Ticker) -- The Chicago Bears agreed to terms with rookie running back Matt Forte on a four-year contract Wedneaday.
Forte, who was selected 44th overall in this year's draft, figures to compete for a starting job with the Bears this season. The Louisiana native rushed for a school record 4,265 yards in his four years at Tulane.
With the Bears releasing starting running back Cedric Benson because of off-the-field incidents, Forte will look to challenge veteran Adrian Peterson for the bulk of the carries in Chicago.
