OXNARD, California (Ticker) - The Dallas Cowboys on Friday agreed to terms on five-year contracts with their two first-round picks, running back Felix Jones and cornerback Mike Jenkins.
Financial terms were not released.
Jones, a backfield mate of Heisman Trophy runner-up Darren McFadden at Arkansas, was selected No. 22 overall, three spots ahead of Jenkins.
Known for his big-play ability, the speedy Jones averaged 7.66 yards per carry in his career - second only to Army's Glenn Davis in NCAA history. That also broke the Southeastern Conference mark of 6.62 held by Bo Jackson.
Jones also was the nation's fourth-leading kickoff returner, averaging 29.6 yards per return.
Despite character issues - a suspension during 2007 for two misdemeanors - Dallas traded up to nab the 5-11, 200-pound Jenkins, who recorded six career interceptions and 41 pass breakups at South Florida.
The Cowboys made the move for Jenkins despite having acquired suspended cornerback Adam Jones from the Tennessee Titans one day before the draft.
Jenkins took over the kick return duties late in his senior season, taking his first one back 100 yards to set a school record.
