Chiefs OL Albert could miss rest of camp

Aug 2, 2008 - 5:23 PM RIVER FALLS, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- Kansas City Chiefs first-round draft pick Branden Albert could miss the rest of training camp after suffering a sprained foot during Thursday's combined practice with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Chiefs initially described Albert's injury as a sprained ankle, and coach Herman Edwards indicated that offensive tackle is day-to-day. Edwards did say, however, that Albert is unlikely to play in Thursday's preseason opener against the Chicago Bears.

"I'd say he's more out than in," Edwards told the Kansas City Star. "He'll have to rest it to see where he's at right now."

Other Kansas City officials have said that Albert will not return before the Chiefs end their camp on August 15.

The 6-5, 316-pound Albert, who was taken by Kansas City with the 17th overall pick out of Virginia, has been projected as the Chiefs' starter at left tackle. He started all 37 games at Virginia.
