Jets place LB Kassell on injured reserve

Aug 10, 2008 - 1:36 AM HEMPSTEAD, New York (Ticker) - The New York Jets on Saturday placed backup linebacker Brad Kassell on injured reserve, ending his season.

Kassell was entering his third season with New York and seventh overall. The undrafted free agent previously played four campaigns with the Tennessee Titans.

In 88 regular-season games, Kassell has recorded 302 tackles and 50 stops on special teams. He had missed just one game in the last five seasons.

Also on Saturday, the Jets signed linebacker Blair Phillips and offensive lineman Thaddeus Coleman, while waiving offensive lineman Clint Oldenburg.
