DALLAS (Ticker) -- Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones will mail a 1 1/2-page letter to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Thursday asking for full reinstatement to the league, according to a Dallas Morning News report.
Jones was suspended in April 2007 for violations of the league conduct policy after being arrested six times and involved with law enforcement on another 12 occasions since being drafted in 2005.
Jones hasn't played in an NFL game since December 31, 2006 but was granted partial reinstatement on June 2, allowing him to attend training camp with the Cowboys, who acquired him from the Tennessee Titans on April 23 for a fourth-round pick in the 2008 draft as well as other considerations.
However, Jones is optimistic on his chances for full reinstatement as he has tried hard to clean up his image over the past several months.
"I'm feeling real good," Jones told the Morning News. "It's just a letter on why I feel I should be reinstated. It's my chance to respond, and we'll see how it goes."
He has participated fully in Dallas' player-development program, according to the report, and has been assigned a four-person security team that doesn't allow him to drive often in order to track his whereabouts at all times.
Jones has also pledged to donate 121 school uniforms to fifth-graders in the Dallas Independent School District, the report states.
"The curtain has come up for him," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told the newspaper. "So I think (the letter) is real important in terms of influencing the commissioner's decision."
The Morning News also reported that a decision could be made on August 26, the day the team has to cut its roster to 75.
