Edwards to miss preseason game

Aug 22, 2008 - 7:01 PM ORCHARD PARK, New York (Ticker) -- Buffalo Bills starting quarterback Trent Edwards will miss Sunday's preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts with a deep bruise above his right kneecap.

Edwards, who missed his third straight practice Friday, was injured Tuesday in a collision with running back Marshawn Lynch.

"We're going to pretty cautious in terms of trying to get me back to 100 percent for the last preseason game and not take any risks," Edwards said. "It's making minimal progress, day-to-day. But it's progressing, which is positive."

Edwards played in 10 games as a rookie last season, throwing for seven touchdowns and eight interceptions. The third-round pick out of Stanford compiled a 70.4 rating.

J.P. Losman will start in Edwards' place against the Colts.

Coach Dick Jauron announced rookie James Hardy (hamstring) and fellow wide receiver Roscoe Parrish (knee) also would miss Sunday's game.

Buffalo's final preseason game is next Thursday against Detroit.
