Patriots place OL Neal on PUP list
Aug 26, 2008 - 8:55 PM FOXBOROUGH, Massachusetts (Ticker) -- The New England Patriots placed offensive lineman Stephen Neal on the physically unable to perform list Tuesday with a shoulder injury.Players placed on the PUP list prior to the season are not eligible to play for at least the first six weeks of the season.
Entering his sixth year in the league - all with the Patriots, Neal played eight regular season games last season and all three of New England's postseason contests.
The 6-4, 300-pound lineman, who has played guard and tackle, has appeared in 55 games - 52 starts - over his five years with the Patriots.
New England also placed offensive lineman Ryan O'Callaghan on injured reserve Tuesday and released fullback Kyle Eckel, cornerback Jason Webster and offensive lineman Ryan Wendell.
