BEREA, Ohio (Ticker) -- Cleveland Browns quarterback Derek Anderson returned to practice on Tuesday.
It was a brief appearance, but it still marked the first time in eight days that Anderson was back to work with his teammates.
Backup Brady Quinn is still expected to start Cleveland's preseason finale on Thursday against the Chicago Bears at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
Anderson had been out since August 18 when he left a game against the New York Giants with a concussion. He went through the individual work at the start of practice and then went inside with trainer Marty Lauzon to continue his rehabilitation.
"It was good for him to be back. But he was out there only a short time, so I doubt I can play him in the game," Browns coach Romeo Crennel said.
Starting wide receiver Braylon Edwards will also be out against the Bears, missing his third consecutive game with a lacerated foot.
Crennel hopes Edwards, who went to the Pro Bowl last year, will be ready for the regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on September 7.
"They (the team doctors and trainers) tell me he'll be back practicing for that game," Crennel said. "If he's out there, then I'll believe it."
