IRVING, Texas (Ticker) -- The Dallas Cowboys signed special teams ace Keith Davis on Wednesday, a week after he was released by the Miami Dolphins.
Davis has spent the last six seasons with the Cowboys after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Sam Houston State in 2002.
However, after being little more than a special teams standout for the entirety of his NFL career, Davis signed a two-year, $3.5 million deal with the Dolphins this past offseason in hopes of competing for a starting spot in the secondary.
But he was released last week and the Cowboys targeted him almost immediately. Davis has 77 career special teams tackles.
In a corresponding move, the Cowboys released cornerback Evan Oglesby. The fourth-year player was claimed off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens last season and played in eight games for Dallas in 2007, registering three tackles.
