Bengals TE Utecht likely to miss next game
Sep 15, 2008 - 7:50 PM CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Cincinnati Bengals tight end Ben Utecht is expected to miss Sunday's game against the New York Giants due to a chest injury.Bengals coach Marvin Lewis on Monday said he doubted Utecht would be available to play.
Utecht was injured on the first play from scrimmage in Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans. He was drilled in the chest by linebacker David Thornton on an incomplete pass from Carson Palmer and had to be helped off the field.
Lewis said Utecht did not suffer any fractures to the sternum area.
"It took me about 30 seconds before I could answer (the doctor's) questions," said Utecht, adding that his return would be based on his pain tolerance.
Utecht is in his first season with the Bengals (0-2). He spent the previous four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, hauling in 68 receptions combined in 2006 and 2007.
