Eagles QB McNabb, RB Westbrook sidelined by injuries

Sep 21, 2008 - 10:22 PM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook both were sidelined by injuries during the Philadelphia Eagles' game Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

McNabb suffered a chest injury on the final play of the first quarter. The five-time Pro Bowl quarterback stayed in the game for the rest of the first half but remained in the locker room for the start of the second half.

However, McNabb returned to the bench midway through the third quarter. Although he seemed to have trouble breathing, McNabb went back into the game with 10 minutes left in the quarter.

Westbrook injured his right ankle in the second quarter and was taken to the locker room. The All-Pro running back stepped on the leg of teammate Tra Thomas while running to the left side and landed awkwardly on his ankle.

The Eagles have not provided any updates on either of their star offensive players.

The long-term health of McNabb and Westbrook is crucial to the Eagles, who owned a 10-6 halftime lead.

The Eagles have used Correll Buckhalter and Lorenzo Booker in place of Westbrook. Buckhalter scored on a 20-yard swing pass from McNabb with 9:23 remaining in the first half.
