Eagles QB McNabb, RB Westbrook sidelined by injuries

Sep 22, 2008 - 4:54 AM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro running back Brian Westbrook will have an MRI on his strained right ankle on Monday.

Westbrook missed most of Sunday's 15-6 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers after suffering the injury on the first play of the second quarter.

X-rays came back negative, but there's no doubt "The City of Brotherly Love," will be holding its breath while waiting to hear the results of the MRI.

The centerpiece of the Eagles' offense, Westbrook was hurt with 11 minutes remaining in the first half on a running play to the left side. He tripped over the leg of left tackle Tra Thomas, fell awkwardly on his right foot and limped off the field.

The Eagles (2-1) also got a scare when quarterback Donovan McNabb suffered a chest contusion on the final play of the first quarter. The five-time Pro Bowl quarterback stayed in the game for the rest of the first half but remained in the locker room for the start of the second.

He returned early in the third quarter and finished 24-for-35 for 196 yards and one TD.
