BEREA, Ohio (Ticker) -- Wide receiver Donte' Stallworth is hoping to make his debut with the Cleveland Browns when they host the Super Bowl champion New York Giants in two weeks.
Stallworth was the Browns' prize offseason acquisition, signing a seven-year, $35 million deal. But he has missed the first four games of the season with an injured quadriceps.
"The bye week is definitely very helpful for me," Stallworth said Tuesday. "I look forward to taking off my Cleveland Browns cheerleading outfit and putting on my helmet and shoulder pads this next go around."
With Stallworth and Joe Jurevicius sidelined, Cleveland has been forced to use inexperienced receivers Syndric Steptoe and Steve Sanders opposite Braylon Edwards. The Browns have struggled to a 1-3 start this season.
"I'm hoping I'll be able to go out and hopefully make some plays," Stallworth said. "Just be another guy that can go out there and make a couple of more plays, in a time when the team needs it."
Stallworth hauled in 46 receptions for 697 yards and three scores last season with the New England Patriots.
