ASHBURN, Virginia (Ticker) -- Washington Redskins defensive end Jason Taylor and cornerback Shawn Springs sat out practice on Thursday due to calf injuries.
Taylor's absence was not surprising. He underwent surgery last week after being kicked in the calf in the second quarter of a 24-17 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on September 21.
The injury sidelined him for last weekend's contest against the Dallas Cowboys, ending his consecutive games played streak at 133.
Taylor, who last missed a game in 1999, had the seventh-longest streak among active players.
Springs injured his calf during the second half against Dallas and did not return. On Wednesday, he said the calf was sore but he hoped to play against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Also sitting out practice due to injury Thursday were right tackle Stephon Heyer (shoulder) and linebacker Marcus Washington (hamstring).
