LAKE FOREST, Illinois (Ticker) - Chicago Bears defensive tackle Tommie Harris was suspended for Sunday's game for breaking an unspecified team rule.

"It's always disappointing when you have to suspend one of your players, but nothing's bigger than the team," Bears coach Lovie Smith said. "But as far as disrupting the team, it can't. Injuries happen. Players don't play from time to time. You have to move on. We played last week without Tommie, so we've been in that situation before."

A three-time Pro Bowler, Harris sat out last weekend's 24-20 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles due to a knee injury.

Although Harris registered just three tackles in the first three games of the season, Smith said he was making solid progress from the knee injury and had been expected to play against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

"Last week he was close, so I assume he would have been able to," said Smith, who met with Harris before practice Thursday to inform his of the suspension.

A 2004 first-round pick, Harris collected a career-high eight sacks in 2007.
