PHOENIX (Ticker) -- Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin will miss at least Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills after undergoing surgery to repair a sinus fracture.
Boldin underwent the procedure Thursday, the day of his 28th birthday.
It's uncertain if Boldin will be able to return for next week's game against the Dallas Cowboys. In Boldin's absence, Steve Breaston is expected to see increased playing time.
Boldin suffered the injury as a result of the jarring hits he received from New York Jets safeties Kerry Rhodes and Eric Smith late in last Sunday's game.
Smith was suspended one game for what the NFL called a flagrant violation of player safety rules. His helmet-to-helmet hit with 27 seconds remaining in the Jets' 56-35 victory knocked out Boldin.
A six-year veteran, Boldin is the Cardinals' leading receiver this season with 27 catches for 366 yards and five touchdowns.
