Illness forces Schaub to the bench for Texans
Oct 5, 2008 - 4:25 PM HOUSTON (Ticker) -- Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub will not start Sunday's home opener against the Indianapolis Colts after falling ill Saturday night.Sage Rosenfels will start in place of Schaub, who is still active and listed as the Texans' second quarterback. Tight end Owen Daniels is the team's emergency third signal-caller.
Last season, Rosenfels made five starts for the Texans, going 4-1. He played in 10 games overall and finished with a career-high 1,684 passing yards and 15 touchdowns.
Sunday's contest is the first of four straight games at Reliant Stadium for the Texans (0-3), who opened with three games on the road. A Week Two contest against Baltimore was postponed to November 9 due to the damage that Hurricane Ike caused to Reliant Stadium.
