ENGLEWOOD, Colorado (Ticker) -- Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan offered no injury updates Monday for a number of players on his squad.
Wide receiver Eddie Royal and tight end Tony Scheffler were both on crutches following Sunday's 16-13 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"We'll talk about injuries on Wednesday when we get the MRIs back," Shanahan said. "But we go through this every Monday - for obvious reasons, we'll talk about that on Wednesday, OK?"
Royal was injured while returning a punt during the third quarter. He twisted an ankle and did not return to the game.
"It's a sprained ankle," Royal said after the game. "Nothing too serious, I just kind of rolled up on it the wrong way, and the crutches are just precautionary. We don't want to put any weight on it. When it happens, it feels a lot worse than it really is, so I can't really tell right now. We'll know a lot more tomorrow."
Royal made a splashy debut with Denver in Week One, making nine receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown. For the season, he has 30 catches for 321 yards and two TDs.
Scheffler was hurt in the waning moments with what the team announced as a left groin strain. The tight end said he was bothered by the groin the entire second half.
"It is just one of those things. You go through the game and there is some soreness and tightness in there and you have something that puts it over the edge at the end," Scheffler said. "It's football. We really don't know much about it right now. Hopefully we will find out in the morning."
Scheffler, who has 16 receptions for 259 yards and two touchdowns, told The Gazette of Colorado Springs that he didn't think he would be able to play in the upcoming game against Jacksonville.
"Not looking like it," Scheffler said.
Running back Selvin Young and defensive end Ebenezer Ekuban also suffered left groin strains.
