ASHWAUBENON, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers did not throw Friday for the third consecutive day, but he will start Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy said he is treating Rodgers' sprained right shoulder with caution.
"The decision to hold Aaron Rodgers from throwing today was a medical decision," McCarthy said. "Dr. (Pat) McKenzie in his evaluation this morning felt it was best for Aaron not to throw today, so that's why his practice reps were limited, and he'll be ready to go Sunday."
"I would have liked to have done a little throwing, but I did as much as I could with the run game and the mental reps," Rodgers added. "I feel good about the game plan and my preparation."
Rodgers injured the shoulder in a 30-21 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 28.
Although he was listed as a game-time decision in Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons, Rodgers started and finished 25-of-37 for 313 yards and three touchdowns. But he threw a costly interception in the waning minutes of a 27-24 defeat.
A former first-round draft selection, the 24-year-old Rodgers has passed for 1,274 yards and nine touchdowns in his first season as a starter since replacing the legendary Brett Favre, who was traded to the New York Jets.
