Dolphins RB Brown, two others fined for TD dance

Oct 11, 2008 - 12:37 AM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Miami Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown and two linemen were fined $10,000 each by the league on Friday for their choreographed touchdown dance in last week's win over the San Diego Chargers.

In addition to Brown, right tackle Vernon Carey and right guard Ikechuku Ndukwe also were fined.

The three did a dance called "The Cupid Shuffle" after Brown took a direct snap and ran in from five yards out for what turned out to be the decisive score in a 17-10 win.

There were no flags on the play for excessive celebration, but according to league rules, choreographed celebrations by two or more players are not allowed.

"Rules are rules, but I was a little surprised about the amount more so than getting fined," Brown told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "Obviously, we were out having fun and we were enjoying the game, and it was one of those spur-of-the-moment things. But at the same time, I guess rules are rules."
