Eagles rookies fined 10K for celebration

Oct 11, 2008 - 10:56 PM PRIMOS, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Chalk another one up for the No Fun League.

Philadelphia Eagles rookies DeSean Jackson and Quintin Demps were fined $10,000 each for their touchdown celebration in last week's loss to the Washington Redskins, according to Saturday's Delaware County Times.

Jackson scored on a 68-yard punt return in the first quarter when Demps joined him in the end zone. They posed face-to-face with arms folded and heads bobbing, a seemingly innocent and subtle celebration.

However, according to the report the league said it wasn't among the "natural, spontaneous expressions of exuberance and celebratory acts."

Jackson and Demps apparently violated the unsportsmanlike conduct rule when "two or more players engage in prolonged, excessive, premeditated or choreographed celebrations, particularly after scoring plays."

The Times reported that both rookies said they will appeal the fines.

"Yeah, that's crazy," Jackson told the paper.

"Definitely I'm appealing," Demps said to the Times. "I don't think it (warranted a fine)."
