Bengals QB Palmer to miss second straight game

Oct 13, 2008 - 8:04 PM CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer will miss his second straight game with a sore right elbow, coach Marvin Lewis announced Monday.

Lewis said Ryan Fitzpatrick will start Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Palmer was sidelined for the second time in three weeks during Sunday's 26-14 loss to the New York Jets. The two-time Pro Bowler is expected to see a specialist this week.

Palmer was listed as the third-string quarterback Sunday for the Bengals (0-6), one of only two winless teams in the NFL.

"I'm not shutting anything down," he said. "As soon as I get clearance, I'm going to play, whether we're 9-6 or 0-15."

The No. 1 overall draft selection in 2003, Palmer has passed for 731 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions in four games this season.

Fitzpatrick has struggled in three games this season, throwing for one touchdown and three interceptions.
