Colts acquire DT McCargo from Bills
Oct 14, 2008 - 10:06 PM ORCHARD PARK, New York (Ticker) -- The Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday acquired defensive tackle John McCargo from the Buffalo Bills for an undisclosed draft pick.A first-round pick in 2006, McCargo failed to live up to expectations with the Bills. He spent the majority of his rookie season on injured reserve and received media attention for passing out during training camp earlier that year.
A North Carolina State product, McCargo spent last season as a backup but played in all 16 games. He had 20 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks.
The 25-year-old McCargo, who tips the scales at over 300 pounds, has received little playing time this season.
McCargo will attempt to join the Colts' rotation at defensive tackle on a line which already includes Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis at the ends.
