EDEN PRAIRIE, Minnesota (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Vikings signed veteran linebacker Napoleon Harris on Thursday, bringing him back for his second stint with the club.
Harris - who the Vikings acquired in 2005 in the draft-day trade that sent Randy Moss to the Oakland Raiders - spent two seasons in Minnesota, registering 84 tackles and three interceptions while starting 17 of 29 games. He signed a six-year, $23.175 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2007, but that marriage lasted just one year. After being inactive all season, Harris was cut on Tuesday.
The Vikings wasted no time scooping him up, as their linebacking corps has been beset by injuries to E.J. Henderson and David Herron.
Harris had a career-high 116 tackles last season.
In a corresponding move, the Vikings waived fullback Thomas Tapeh.
