PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia Eagles signed fullback Kyle Eckel to a two-year contract on Tuesday.
Eckel has spent parts of the last two seasons with the New England Patriots, rushing for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns last season. A former undrafted free agent out of Navy, the 5-11, 237-pounder has been used as a blocker and on special teams, where he registered 12 tackles in 2007.
In a trio of corresponding roster moves, the Eagles cut safety J.R. Reed - who played sparingly this season - signed guard Nevin McCaskill to their practice squad and released fullback Jed Collins from the practice squad.
