Titans RB Johnson fined 10K for TD celebration
Oct 24, 2008 - 5:12 AM NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Tennessee Titans rookie running back Chris Johnson was fined $10,000 by the NFL on Thursday for his touchdown celebration in Sunday's 34-10 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.Johnson, who ran for 168 yards on 18 carries, scored on a 66-yard run in the fourth quarter and banged on the conga drums in the Chiefs' pep band. He was penalized 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The 24th overall pick of April's draft, Johnson plans to appeal.
"I am not happy about it,'' Johnson told the Tennessean. "I knew I was going to get a fine, but I am totally upset about how much. I am going to appeal. ... There's no fun in this league. I was trying to have fun and they want to penalize us for having fun.''
