ASHBURN, Virginia (Ticker) -- More than a month after Washington Redskins defensive end Jason Taylor hurt his left calf, the six-time Pro Bowler is still hampered by the injury and was sent him to the hospital again.

Taylor, who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions, missed two days of practice this week and left the Redskins' practice facility Friday to have the calf examined.

The 12-year veteran originally suffered the injury when he was kicked in the calf against the Arizona Cardinals on September 21. He missed two games following a surgical procedure on September 22 to drain a mass of blood near his ankle.

Washington head coach Jim Zorn said Taylor may need to undergo another surgery next week.

"It's hard because he's trying to play football on [the injury], but that may not be allowing it to heal fast enough," Zorn said.

Taylor has appeared in the last two games for the Redskins, recording four tackles in his return against the St. Louis Rams before being held without a tackle last week against Cleveland.

Acquired in a trade with the Miami Dolphins on July 20, Taylor has one sack this season, giving him 118 for his career.
