CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Rex Grossman has his starting job back - for now.

The Chicago Tribune reported Sunday that quarterback Kyle Orton could miss a month with a high ankle sprain he suffered in a 27-23 victory over the Detroit Lions.

Orton, who beat out Grossman for the job in training camp, suffered the injury late in the second quarter. Orton was rolling to his right with 28 seconds remaining in the first half when he was sacked by Cory Redding.

The fourth-year quarterback stayed on the turf before being attended to by medical personnel and placed on the cart. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, according to the paper.

Orton's injury means that Grossman will be back under center.

Grossman - the much-maligned starter who was benched after Week Three of last season - led the Bears to two second-half touchdowns en route to the come-from-behind win.

After the game, head coach Lovie Smith did not comment about the extent of Orton's injury, only stating that the staff would monitor his health during the week.

"Rex came in today and led us to a big win," Smith said. "I'm still hopeful that Kyle will come back soon."
