Steelers QB Roethlisberger injures shoulder

Nov 4, 2008 - 6:56 AM LANDOVER, Maryland (Ticker) -- Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered a right shoulder injury in Monday's 23-6 win over Washington.

Roethlisberger scored on a quarterback sneak with 35 seconds left before the half, and promptly ran into the locker room with team trainers for X-rays. Roethlisberger was just 5-of-17 for 50 yards and an interception before leaving.

He was replaced by Byron Leftwich to start the third quarter. Leftwich finished 7-of-10 for 129 yards and led the Steelers on a touchdown drive to start the second half. Head coach Mike Tomlin said he would know more about the injury on Tuesday.

"I have no update on Ben at this point, I'm sure I will have more information at the press conference tomorrow," said Tomlin, who added that he did not know how the injury happened.

"Potentially he was capable of going back in the game, but we went down the field with Leftwich there to start the second half. We will see how it is in the morning."
