Texans sign QB Nall, release DE Kalu
Nov 5, 2008 - 6:27 PM HOUSTON (Ticker) -- The Houston Texans on Wednesday signed journeyman quarterback Craig Nall. The move was necessitated due to an injury to starter Matt Schaub, who suffered a torn MCL in his left knee in Sunday's 28-21 loss to the Minnesota Vikings and will be sidelined up to four weeks.
The Texans also released veteran defensive end N.D. Kalu.
Nall spent time on the roster of three teams, including Houston, in 2007. He appeared in just one game that season, completing 7-of-15 passes for 88 yards in a touchdown for the Green Bay Packers in a 34-13 victory over the Detroit Lions.
In six career games, all with the Packers, Nall has five touchdowns and zero interceptions. He likely will back up Sage Rosenfels, who moves into Schaub's starting slot.
Kalu, in his third season with the Texans, has appeared in just two games this season. The 12-year veteran has 31 career sacks but none this season.
No one has shouted yet.
