Cowboys QB Romo throws, expects to play in next game

Nov 5, 2008 - 7:21 PM IRVING, Texas (Ticker) -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo did some light throwing Wednesday and said he expects to start against the Washington Redskins on November 16.

"I would be very surprised if I didn't," said Romo, who has missed three games after suffering a broken pinkie finger on throwing hand in a 30-24 loss to Arizona on October 12.

Romo told the team's web site that he did some throwing on Wednesday and expected to do some more during the team's practice session later in the day.

Dallas, which is on a bye this week, has gone 1-2 without Romo and its offense has been ghastly, managing just 41 points in the three games started by backup Brad Johnson.

"I expect to practice," Romo said. "We're going to see (how much). It's feeling better, but it's still not all healed and see where it does."

Describing the pain in his injured finger as "manageable," Romo said he would be ready to fully practice next week, although he may wear a splint to support the finger.

Romo has thrown for 1,689 yards and 14 touchdowns and five interceptions in his six starts, guiding Dallas to a 4-2 record. The Cowboys averaged 29 points in those six games.

Dallas is 5-4 and in last place in the NFC East.
