Jaguars LB Peterson banished from practice

Nov 5, 2008 - 11:46 PM JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Ticker) --Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Mike Peterson was sent home from practice Wednesday by coach Jack Del Rio.

According to the team's web site, Del Rio took exception to Peterson celebrating a sack in last week's game against the Cincinnati Bengals while the Jaguars were trailing, 21-3.

Jacksonville (3-5) suffered a 21-19 loss to previously winless Cincinnati, its second straight defeat.

Del Rio did not say why Peterson, the team's leader in tackles with 85, was banished from practice. He also did not say if the player would be fined or suspended.

"Mike Peterson was sent home today and did not practice," Del Rio said. "We're working through this process seeking an appropriate conclusion."

Peterson, who has started all eight games this season, is in the final year of his contract and repeatedly has expressed displeasure about his situation.

Earlier in the week, Peterson also questioned the Jaguars' chemistry.
