Rams RB Jackson misses another practice

Nov 6, 2008 - 9:23 PM ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson was not at practice Thursday, leaving his status for Sunday's contest against the New York Jets in doubt.

Rams coach Jim Haslett stated earlier in the week that Jackson, who is nursing a thigh injury, would not play Sunday if he does not practice.

The 25-year-old Jackson also missed Wednesday's session.

"We'll find out tomorrow," Haslett said Thursday. "If he doesn't go tomorrow, he won't go in the game on Sunday."

After sitting out Week 8 with the injury, Jackson struggled during last Sunday's 34-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He rushed for just 17 yards on seven carries.

Jackson has 525 rushing yards, 259 receiving yards and four touchdowns this season.

St. Louis (2-6) already is thin in the backfield with Antonio Pittman and Travis Minor battling injuries.

If Jackson is unable to go, Kenneth Darby and recently signed Samkon Gado will likely split carries.

"I think they're doing well," Haslett said. "We'll see in the game, that'll be the test, but I think they work hard, they're both smart guys, they run hard and I'm excited about watching them work this week."
