Broncos RB Torain suffers knee injury

Nov 7, 2008 - 7:46 AM CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Denver Broncos rookie running back Ryan Torain left Thursday's 34-30 win over the Cleveland Browns in the second quarter with a sprained left knee.

A fifth-round pick in April's draft, Torain suffered the injury on a running play when he was bent awkwardly with 8:21 left in the quarter. He did not return.

Torain was replaced by Selvin Young, who entered the game nursing a groin injury and was replaced by rookie Peyton Hillis shortly thereafter.

Torain rushed for 68 yards on 12 carries with one touchdown in his first career start.

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said Torain's knee "doesn't look good."

Denver's backfield has been decimated by injury. Torain was starting because Michael Pittman (neck) and Andre Hall (hand) are on injured reserve.

A seventh-round pick, Hillis ran for 24 yards on eight carries, and is the lone healthy Denver running back on the roster.
