Jaguars LB Peterson returns to team

Nov 7, 2008 - 3:16 PM JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- Linebacker Mike Peterson is back with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Peterson rejoined the team on Friday, two days after he was banished from the locker room by coach Jack Del Rio.

According to the Florida Times-Union, Del Rio met with Peterson on Friday morning to air their differences before allowing him to return to the squad.

Del Rio had sent Peterson home from practice Wednesday. The coach reportedly chastised Peterson for flexing his muscles following a sack with Jacksonville trailing the Cincinnati Bengals, 21-3, in last week's game.

The Jaguars (3-5) suffered a 21-19 loss to previously winless Cincinnati, their second straight defeat.

According to the newspaper, Del Rio mulled suspending Peterson for conduct detrimental to the team, but decided against it because the player likely would file a grievance against the club.

Peterson leads in tackles with 85. He is in the final year of his contract and repeatedly has expressed displeasure about his situation.

Earlier in the week, Peterson also questioned the Jaguars' chemistry.
