Report: Broncos RB Torain out for the season

Nov 7, 2008 - 5:26 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Rookie Ryan Torain has apparently become the most recent running back added to the Denver Broncos' injured reserve list.

Torain will miss the rest of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to a report Friday from NFL.com.

The 22-year-old left Thursday's 34-30 win over the Cleveland Browns in the second quarter with a left knee injury.

A fifth-round pick in April's draft, Torain suffered the injury on a running play when he was bent awkwardly with 8:21 left in the quarter and did not return.

According to the report, Torain will have more tests this weekend but the initial prognosis is not good.

Denver's backfield has been decimated by injury with Michael Pittman (neck) and Andre Hall (hand) already on injured reserve. Selvin Young is also nursing a groin injury and is doubtful for next week.

Rookie Peyton Hillis, who ran for 24 yards on eight carries Sunday, is the lone healthy Denver running back on the roster.

Before the injury, Torain rushed for 68 yards and one touchdown on 12 carries in his first career start.
