Steelers RB Parker inactive, season in jeopardy
Nov 9, 2008 - 7:13 PM PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Pittsburgh Steelers running back Willie Parker was declared inactive for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts with a shoulder injury. It marks the fifth time in the last six games that Parker will be out of the lineup, and reports have surfaced that he will be sidelined indefinitely.
NFL.com reported that Parker was told he has a torn labrum that will require surgery in the offseason and could force him to miss the remainder of the season.
According to NFL.com, if Parker does play again this year, he will have to wear a harness on the shoulder.
After missing four games with a knee injury, Parker returned to rush for 71 yards in Monday's 23-6 victory over the Washington Redskins, but injured the shoulder during the game.
Without Parker, Mewelde Moore will be the Steelers' starting running back against the Colts. However, he rushed for minus-two yards on four carries against the Redskins after running for 303 yards in the previous three contests.
On Saturday, the Steelers released running back Najeh Davenport, who re-signed with Pittsburgh five weeks ago.
No one has shouted yet.
