Patriots WR Welker sets league record
Nov 9, 2008 - 7:40 PM FOXBOROUGH, Massachusetts (Ticker) -- New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker set an NFL record during Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.Welker became the first player in NFL history to start a season with at least six receptions in nine consecutive games.
In his second season with New England, Welker set the mark when he caught a 12-yard pass from Matt Cassel on the opening drive of the third quarter. It was his 62nd catch of the season.
Welker, who tied for the league lead with 112 receptions in 2007, entered Sunday's game with 56 catches for 503 yards and a touchdown.
