League withdraws fine against Patriots WR Moss
Nov 10, 2008 - 8:32 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The NFL on Monday rescinded a $20,000 fine against New England Patriots wide receiver for comments he made about the officiating in an 18-15 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on November 2.The Boston Globe reported on Sunday that Moss initially was hit with the fine for some rather mild comments following the game.
According to the newspaper, league spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed the fine on Sunday, but Aiello told PA SportsTicker on Monday that Ray Anderson, the NFL's vice president of operations, had rescinded it.
"This is one of those funny games where you really got to watch what you say because fines will be out on Wednesday, so I'll leave it at that," Moss said last week. "There were some real iffy calls out there, and it's just some of the things that you wished wouldn't have happened."
The reference to the "iffy calls" apparently is what drew the league's attention in the first place.
